What we do

We help young people recognise their strengths, build their confidence and take their first steps into the world of work.

Statement of Purpose

Our Collective History brings family together to celebrate our shared story while inspiring educational achievement and excellence across our wider community. Through engaging events, learning opportunities and intergenerational connection, we honour where we have come from, encourage each other to fulfil our potential, and invest in the next generation. Together, we turn our collective history into a foundation for collective success.

About US

Our Collective History began as our own family’s story, and has grown into a mission to help other families and young people write theirs.

The Challenge

Beginning a career can feel overwhelming, especially when you have not had access to professional networks, financial guidance, previous institutional experience or clear advice about entering the workplace.

Many young people already possess valuable skills, strengths and experiences, but may not yet know how to recognise them or explain them to potential employers.

We Want to Change That

Through practical workshops, interactive activities and personalised support, Our Collective History helps young people build the knowledge, courage and confidence they need to move forwards.

Our programmes cover areas including:

Writing a strong CV with limited work experience…

Preparing for interviews and speaking confidently…

Understanding Payslips, budgeting and personal finance…

exploring self-employment and small-business ideas…

exploring self-employment and small-bussiness ideas…

developing personal professonal styles while keeping your individuality…

setting realitic goals alongside taking positive next steps…

We recognise that experience never exclusively comes from paid work. Educational projects, volunteering, hobbies, caring responsibilities, teamwork and personal challenges can all demonstrate valuable skills.

Our goal is not to tell young people who they should become, but instead to help them recognise who they already are, understand what they can offer and feel ready to pursue the opportunities they deserve.

At OurCollectiveHistory, every young person has a unique story, every skill has value and every future deserves a fair starting point.
